We are pleased to welcome Praise Bands to the Golden Horseshoe Music Festival.
The GHMF recognizes Praise Bands (or Worship Teams) as important ensembles within the Christian school and church environment. The Festival will provide a meaningful musical experience to Praise Bands by offering instruction to improve the musical skills of the individuals as well as improving the overall quality of the presentation of the ensemble. Groups will be judged by recognized professionals in the field who specialize and have experience in the praise and worship genre. Ensembles will have an opportunity to be invited to attend and participate in the national finals of Musicfest Canada, which will be held in Ottawa in May, 2016.
The Praise Band segment of the festival will take place on Thursday, February 18, 2016. This will allow us to provide necessary performance needs for such groups which differ from concert or jazz bands. Our set-up will allow for up to 4 microphones for singers, with rhythm section accompaniment (electric piano, guitar amp, bass amp and drum set). All additional equipment must be provided by the performance ensemble and should be clearly labeled with your school’s or church’s name to avoid confusion. Click here for a detailed list of provided equipment.
The total stage time for each ensemble is 25 minutes, which includes setup and sound check leaving approximately 15 minutes of performance time. Ensembles will be encouraged to present 3 selections in a variety of styles (fast, slow, ballads, Latin, etc.) This will allow the adjudicators to provide the widest possible range of musical suggestions.
Our goal for Praise Bands attending the Golden Horseshoe Music Festival is to equip musicians with feedback that will serve to strengthen an ensemble’s performance elements, making the group more effective when delivering its message.
